Opening Rep
Say your first fifteen seconds out loud, three different ways, before your first dial. The opener is the only part of the call you fully control.
Field Guide
No athlete walks onto the field having only watched the playbook. Sellers do it every day. This is the practice system underneath Sell Like an Athlete: ten drills, a five-stage loop, and a film-review habit you can start this week.
When a quarter is behind, the instinct is volume: more dials, more emails, more meetings. Volume with unpracticed habits just repeats the same call more times. Athletes solve this the other way around — they change what happens in practice, so the performance changes on its own.
That is the whole idea behind training like an athlete as a seller. Separate practice from performance. Rehearse the hard moments before they cost you a deal, review your own film afterward, and carry one correction forward. Ronnell Richards has taught this approach to over 200,000 sellers, and the free course lays out the method in full.
Prepare
Decide what you are working on before the day starts.
Practice
Run the reps in a simulation, not on live buyers.
Perform
Take the real calls with the drill fresh.
Review
Watch your own film honestly and mark the misses.
Improve
Carry one correction into tomorrow's session.
Pick one. Run it for fifteen minutes before your calls start. Do not run all ten in a day — that is watching, not training.

Say your first fifteen seconds out loud, three different ways, before your first dial. The opener is the only part of the call you fully control.
02
Run five simulated calls against a scenario you have not seen. Practice on a rep, not on a real prospect who was going to buy.
03
Pick one objection for the day — price, timing, incumbent, no budget — and answer it ten times until the answer stops sounding rehearsed.
04
Write the three questions that would tell you whether a deal is real. Ask them in the next live call and note what you learned.
05
Watch or read back one of your own calls. Mark where you talked over the buyer and where you skipped a question.
06
Athletes watch the tape with numbers on it. Count how much of the call was you. If it is over half, that is the next thing to fix.
07
Rehearse asking for a specific next step with a date on it. Vague endings are how good conversations turn into dead pipeline.
08
Say one open deal out loud in ninety seconds: who, why now, what is missing. If you cannot, you do not know the deal yet.
09
Read your opener slower than feels natural. Under pressure, speed climbs and credibility drops.
10
End every session by naming a single thing you will do differently tomorrow. One correction, repeated, beats ten you forget.
